Ben’s Work
The Approach
The following is a list of the methodologies that Ben has developed over the last 25 years with over 30,000 session hours and 2000 people. His approach is personal and direct, built on the foundation of trust and immediate actionable insight:
- Through the CLEAR model, Ben focuses on contracting, listening, exploring, action, and rehearsal, complemented by practices in perception, understanding and intervention.
- Establishing what and where the crisis and the irrational problem is – an assessment from multi-dimensional, complex and systemic integral analysis.
- Understanding patterns and emotional content – including how the past comes into the present and shapes the future.
- Developing emotional and cognitive maps of your situation: the stressors, priorities and necessary, meaningful processes of crises and transformation.
- Developing emotional self-connection and re-regulation through trauma-informed perspectives.
- Distinguishing survival strategies from growth strategies and developing a witness position.
- Creating a felt shift in understanding, experience and awareness of the problem directly in the session.
The Pathway
Ben’s approach is both academically rigorous, personally attentive, time efficient, expert, kind and patient. He emphasizes building trust by immediately and seriously addressing concerns and listening intently, acknowledging the courage it takes to seek help.
A positive working alliance is fundamental and is established quickly through supportive and challenging dialogue. Assessment begins with deep discernment of how the irrational is personal, historic and professional in a crisis. A series of ideas, interpretations, thoughts and responses are created and shared in dialogue to gain immediate clarity and insight. Emotional re-regulation is a key focus, allowing re-connection and processing of feelings (or lack of feeling, numbness).
In parallel, Ben identifies patterns of irrational thought and behaviour, emphasising the need for evolution beyond habitual survival-based strategies. He views crises as opportunities for profound reflection and growth. Making connections between the irrational in personal crises and in organisational challenges is crucial, leading to shifts in understanding and perspective.
His multi-layered perspective of cognitive and emotional work within a psychological framework makes paradigm shifts occur in-session. The felt change in the session is a crucial component of habit change, realisation, consciousness development and work within a transformational purpose-driven framework.
Ben’s approach reflects his commitment to personal and professional growth, as well as his extensive experience and qualifications, and make him a profound resource for leaders seeking to navigate life’s complexities and transform.
